Baader put on mini-skinner

Germanys Lübeck-based Baader will be showing its new generation of skinners with the 54 specially designed for Alaska pollack and hake at the Seafood Processing Europe. It says the machine can switch between shallow and deep skinning modes in minutes, keeping skinned fillet stretched out and separated from each other for further processing on Baader 820 automatic Inspector or on the candling table.

They will also be showing their 988 automatic trimming machine for salmon and whitefish. It offers automatic trimming of salmon fillets in a wide variety of cuts. It says a camera computer visualises each fillet — the tools cut the fillets in accordance with transmitted data based on the preset parameters from the operator. This means less staff are needed for trimming but more important yield goes up. Trim cuts can be defined and stored via a touch-screen panel. The 988 for Salmon can work in-line with Baader’s 434 heading machine and the 200 filleting machine or similar.

The Baader 220 is a high speed processing machine for small herring, mackerel , trout and as well as fish with a similar bone structure. It can be used as a standalone, semi – or fully – automatic processing line where the fish is automatically driven from the general storage bin via a distribution system to various lines. The feeding system allows optimal capacity utilisation through maximised feeding, the company says. One person can supervise up to five lines from the raw material supply to the final filleting section. The automatic infeed system, a Baader 489, splits batches of fish into single channels. The fish is then divided up and passed individually to the heading unit of the enclosed heading and filleting machine, the Baader 220 head pointing forward.

A camera system observes the whole process within the heading unit and controls the position of the fish, the species and the sizes. If a fault occurs, e,g., if the head and tail position are incorrect, the fish is rejected onto a return conveyor. If the wrong species are fed through, the machine will reject the fish into the waste channel. If the belly or back are wrong facing it automatically corrects the position. This helps the line to process, depending on fish size, up to 400 trays per minute.

One of the advantages of the new system is that any kind of mistake or disturbance of the production triggers a optical/sound – warning signal with a message for what the supervisor should do.

A Management Information System allows production management to have constant control and feedback from the production.

Baader is also showing its new Baader 605 mincer which offers constant and fast access to all relevant production data, including weight, temperature service data and production programmes — all online. This offers central registration, filing and analysing of important production data. The new data interface means data can be exchanged between an external PC and the computer running the mincing machine. It uses a high-speed Ethernet transfer between mincer, touch panel of the machine and the central computer for the production lines, sales production lines and service. Charts and diagrams are used to offer easy review of the production progress and also software for statistical analysis, and optimising the production process.

In addition there is the new Baader 600 ‘Mini-Mincer’. This produces clean separation of particles from bones, fins and skin from fish with belt separators and the company claims it sets new standards for product quality and performance.

They have already sold 50 mini-mincers. It uses the same technology as its big sisters but at a slower throughput, needs limited space, is comfortable to operate, quick and easy to clean and portable.
