Buckie-based Associated Seafoods Ltd (ASL) has been shortlisted for three North East Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2019 in recognition of the innovation and sales performance of its Scottish smoked salmon, as well as its commitment to staff development.

In the ‘Best Retail Product (Large Business)’ category, M&S Scottish Speybay Sweetcure Smoked Salmon produced by ASL was shortlisted for its great taste and innovation. The salmon is cured with salt and muscovado sugar before being twice-smoked, the latter over Speyside whisky cask shavings.
In the ‘Export Business of the Year’ category ASL was shortlisted because of the company’s growth in overseas markets that has resulted in its Scottish smoked salmon being sold to almost 30 countries around the world.
ASL was also shortlisted in the ‘Investing in Skills Development’ category in recognition of its commitment to investing in staff training.
Victor West, ASL managing director, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for three of these prestigious awards, which acknowledges our determination to invest in our workforce, as well as the innovation, care and customer service that is the hallmark of our premium Scottish smoked salmon.”
The North East Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2019 celebrate the best of food and drink throughout Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
