Since mid 2010, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority has undertaken a fisheries officer development program with East Timor.
AFMA are also assisting to improve East Timor’s fisheries legislation. AFMA will work closely with the University of Wollongong and the East Timor Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in the coming months to identify where AFMA is able to assist in closing gaps in their legislation.
