Safety at sea company GaardboMarine was established in the Faroe Islands in autumn 2013 by former diver Thorben Gaardbo.
In his 20 year career as diver, servicing boats and ships when they had problems below the waterline, Mr Gaardbo saw many entangled propellers, and many boats and ships that had suffered many different types of damage after hitting something in the water or running aground.
Mr Gaardbo decided that he wanted to invent a cutting system for the propeller, but after searching the internet he found what he was looking for – Spurs Marine Manufacturing’s
He also wanted to find a product to make navigating more safe, by simply installing a sonar in the front of the vessel, under the waterline, looking ahead forward to see any danger that might appear. This is where EchoPilot and Far Sounder’s 3D forward looking sonar systems come in.
Gaardbo Marine is now the distributor for these three companies and is inviting visitors to find out more at the company’s stand at this year’s IceFish.
