Aquaculture nets and ropes supplier Garware Technical Fibres has confirmed the acquisition of a 26% stake in solar energy company TP Bhaskar Renewables (TPBRL) as part of its roadmap to becoming carbon neutral.

“Green energy is clean energy, it comes from an inexhaustible energy source; it does not generate polluting emissions or greenhouse gases. It promotes energy independence and generation for self-consumption, it is sustainable and it is implemented to diversify energy sources,” Garware Technical Fibres’ Manager Americas Gopakumar Menon said.
According to Menon, Garware’s actions, products and commitments demonstrate a solid focus towards sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
“By continuing to implement these practices, we contribute to mitigating climate change and promoting a more sustainable future,” he said.
Currently, 40% of the energy sources in Garware’s plants come from wind power. In the future, it projects that 65% will come from a renewable energy source.
Already, the implementation of actions to reduce emissions, such as the adoption of renewable energy sources and the improvement of energy efficiency, has led to a significant reduction of 123 million kg of CO2 equivalent.
Regarding recycling and water conservation, Garware recycles 65% of the waste produced internally and sells the remaining 35% to other recyclers. In addition, it completely recycles the wastewater generated in its operations and reuses it in secondary applications, thus the average water consumption has been reduced by 25% when comparing fiscal year 2021-22 with FY2019.
It also decreased the greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of production by 24% in FY21-22 compared to FY2019.
