US firm Trident Seafoods has sold two of its processing plants as part of a wider restructure.
In December 2023, the Seattle-based company announced it was seeking buyers for four of its Alaskan plants.

It has now confirmed that its processing plant, bunkhouse, galley and two housing units in Petersburg has been sold to E.C. Phillips & Son whilst its Ketchikan facility has been acquired by Silver Bay Seafoods.
E.C. Phillips & Son is a multi-species operation with year-round seafood processing operations.
“E.C. Phillips & Son is a well-established family company with an almost 100-year history in the Alaska fishing industry,” said Trident chief executive, Joe Bundrant.
“The company has an excellent reputation for quality and support, making it a great fit for Petersburg.”
Located approximately 100 miles north of the Canadian border in the southeast panhandle of Alaska, Trident’s Ketchikan facility is dedicated solely to processing salmon. In addition to canned and frozen salmon, the plant also packs and ships fresh salmon.
“As difficult as it is to part with the Ketchikan operation, it will be a great addition to Silver Bay’s portfolio,” said Bundrant.
“More importantly, Silver Bay will be a great partner to the many stakeholders dependent on this plant.”
