Thai tuna processor, Sea Value PLC, has become the newest member of the International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF).
The non-profit organisation develops product lines utilising tuna that has been responsibly caught using one-by-one catching methods.
“Sea Value is committed to meeting and exceeding consumer expectations by adhering to the highest levels of manufacturing practices and ethical standards,” said Amornphan Aramwatananont, senior vice president at Sea Value.
Sea Value, with 40-years of experience, operates from three state-of-the-art processing facilities located in the heart of Thailand. It has the collective capacity to process up to 1000 tonnes of fish per day.
Mr Aramwatananont added: “We demonstrate our commitment and contribution to the sustainable use of fisheries resources by supporting the development of innovative and sustainable fishing methods, through active participation in organisations such as the IPNLF.
“By working with all our suppliers to ensure that the fish put into each can is free from any illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing practises.”
The IPNLF role is to promote the environmental and social benefits derived from one-by-one fisheries around the world. It also helps to develop and support fisheries to improve their long-term viability and sustainability.
John Burton, chairman of IPNLF, concluded: “The global demand for these products continues to grow at a very rapid rate, IPNLF believes all stakeholders have a crucial role to play in helping the industry bridge the supply gap.”
