Sunneva Ósk Guðmundsdóttir has been appointed quality manager for Samherji’s land-based fish processing, replacing Elvar Thorarensen who is retiring for health reasons.

Elvar Thorarensen has spent a long career with Samherji, first in human resources before stepping into the quality manager’s role, which he has held for 25 years. During this time he has worked on quality issues and audits with the world's largest retailers, in recent years applying his skills and energy to developing a new working environment for fish processing, where safety, environmental protection, and sustainability are key factors. Samherji's fish processing is recognised by the most demanding buyers in the Western world for quality products, and Elvar Thorarensen has played a significant part in that success with other staff at the company.
Sunneva Ósk Guðmundsdóttir has a degree in fisheries science from the University of Akureyri and has worked on quality control at Samherji for the past three years.
Elvar Thorarensen will work with Samherji's staff for the next few months and assist in projects that arise.
