The Perkins My Engine app has been downloaded by users more than 100,000 times since its launch in 2017, and this milestone has marked with a major upgrade to the My Engine user interface.
The app, working in conjunction with the Edison Gold Award-winning Perkins® SmartCap, gives users access to a wide range of operational, maintenance and service data for their Perkins powered equipment. The app and cap combination is the most cost-effective way to add engine level telematics to a mechanical diesel engine.
“The Perkins My Engine App delivers a huge benefit for owners and operators of Perkins powered machines,” explained product manager Ian Bradford, commenting that the upgraded Perkins My Engine App is available as a free download via the App Store and Google Play.
“In addition to being a parts book, it’s also an electronic service book providing access to the engine’s Operation and Maintenance Manual. It offers service scheduling and reminders and also includes consumable information for quick reference.”
“The new interface has a clean, modern look and feel,” he added. “It also has several new features that enhance the user experience. This upgrade is part of Perkins strategic outreach to aftermarket customers to help them maximise the value of their Perkins powered equipment.”
The Perkins My Engine App is now available in seven languages, with Italian and Turkish included in the most recent app update complementing English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese which were previously available.
The latest update to the Perkins My Engine App includes improved visualisation including countdown to next service, the ability to view multiple engine locations on a single map, an engine starts per hour counter and a more prominent link to help customers find their local Perkins distributor.
The low-cost Perkins SmartCap, which replaces the engine’s conventional oil filler cap, is available in the UK and US from the Perkins online shop and from Perkins distributors in over 50 countries worldwide. The cap comes in a range of sizes to fit nearly any Perkins engine.
