Under the agreement, the companies will look to strengthen their research and development capacity in the areas of fisheries, agriculture, aquaculture, biotechnology and food. Both will work on mutual local, national and international projects together, share personnel and cross promote services.

“We are very excited about this agreement and what it can do to connect industry with leading edge knowledge, technologies and access to new markets,” said Jo Ann Fewer, CEO, Perennia.

“We have been an active participant in the European bioeconomy research and innovation arena in the past years and see a lot of potential in increased collaboration with Nova Scotia,” said Matis CEO Sveinn Margeirsson, who will spend time in Nova Scotia to further develop relationships with aligned agencies, companies and academic institutions.

“We are confident that Atlantic Canada and the rest of the coastal areas around the Atlantic have great opportunities to increase the value of Atlantic seafood in the years to come. Perennia can play a key role that development for Nova Scotia and I am looking forward to the collaboration,” he added.
