Portsmouth UK based manufacturer of emergency distress beacons, McMurdo has appointed Furuno Finland Oy as its new distributor in Finland.

Furuno will supply McMurdo’s range of emergency distress beacons, NAVTEX and emergency VHF Radios to the region.

Furuno, a well established subsidiary of Furuno Electric, will distribute McMurdo’s products along the same supply lines as its own brands of navigation and communication equipment, in particular to professional maritime and leisure marine suppliers and retailers. Furuno will also open up the growing land-based and general aviation markets for the emergency beacons. McMurdo’s range complements the Furuno range and both companies are positive about the new partnership.

McMurdo has also confirmed the appointment of two exclusive Greek distributors to cover the marine market. Marel Electronics S.A. will act as product distributor in Greece for the commercial fleet deep sea vessels, while Hellas Marine Electronics will take care of yachting, light commercial and fishing trade.

Both distributors have a strong experience of McMurdo products which include EPIRBs, PLBs, SARTs, NAVTEX and emergency VHF radios. Together they will support existing dealer networks throughout Greece as well as sales and service, aiming to increase the accessibility and the serviceability of McMurdo products in the region.

Marel, founded in 1966, is an established distributor of key global brands in the commercial shipping sector, to which McMurdo will be a valued addition. HELLAS Electronics, has been established for 10 years and is a leader in the Greek marine electronics business.

The two companies are both committed to supporting the McMurdo product range and will sustain appropriate in-house stock as well as implementing continuous up to date training for their technicians.
