As a result of the merger between Marine Harvest and Fjord Seafood the merged company has two processing plants at Helgeland; Halsa and Herøy.

The company says that after thorough analyses it has identified major potential cost reductions by concentrating the harvesting volumes in the region Nordland in one of these plants. As part of the ongoing efficiency programme and finding synergies in the merged company, the decision has been taken to close the plant at Halsa, Meløy community as from 1 August 2007.

The closing will affect 43 full time employees. During the whole analysis process there has been a dialogue with the employee representatives and the communities involved, which have been kept informed about the situation.

Marine Harvest Norway has said that it will immediately, in cooperation with the employee representatives, identify possible actions and find alternative solutions for those affected.
