Sigurdur Olason has been appointed managing director of Marel’s Fish Industry Center.

He is now a member of Marel’s Executive Team and reports directly to Arni Oddur Thordarson, CEO of Marel. Mr Olason will be succeeding Jon Birgir Gunnarsson who is leaving the company.

Marel has said that it is thankful to Jon Birgir Gunnarsson for his important contribution and achievements during his employment at Marel and wishes him all the best in the future.

Mr Olason worked in Marel’s product development between 2001 and 2006. During the last six years he was manager of Business Development with Samherji, one of Iceland's leading seafood companies, and related companies. Mr Olason has an MBA degree from the Brisbane Graduate School of business, a B.Sc. degree in computer science and a B.Sc degree in engineering from the University of Iceland.
