This year is proving to be yet another busy year for Fluid Controls, with significant sales of fish pumps to Chile, Norway, Iceland and Denmark.

Fluid Controls has acquired a new CNC lathe.

The Killybegs, Ireland, based manufacturer has also designed and built pumps for krill pumping with single and dual pump outlets.

A spokesman told WF the company is well advanced with designing a 24" fish pump, which should be ready for the mackerel fishery this year. “This decision came around after many enquiries from our customers in Norway. The pump will be based on the well proven SeaQuest fish pump design. The idea is to have a compact, fish-friendly pump with higher output but maintaining the fish quality.”

Following requests to design a leak-free swivel, Fluid Controls has added a stainless steel swivel to its range of fish hose fittings. The swivel is CNC machined and uses stainless steel ball bearings to ensure a smooth operation.

The swivel is sealed and is pre-lubricated. It is available in sizes up to 18" and is designed to be used directly with hose fittings without the need for extra fittings.

“We have also extended our services capabilities after taking delivery of a new CNC lathe,” Fluid Controls’ spokesman explained. “The lathe is capable of turning over 1m in diameter and up to 3.5m in length. Other machines available for hire include a CNC Boring machine, milling machine, profile cutter and a smaller CNC lathe. We also have manual lathes, milling machine, boring machine and drills available for subcontract work.”

Along with Mooney Boats Ltd, the company has also been involved in the piping and hydraulic installation for the Wavebob generating test machine.
