New laws ensure Welsh cockling future


New legislation has come into force to help ensure cockle fisheries in Wales remain environmentally sustainable and economically viable for the future

The Cockle Fishing Management and Permitting (Specified Area) (Wales) Order 2024 simplifies the existing law and gives the Welsh government new powers to manage each cockle fishery based on the health of the stock and the environment.
