Whiteleg shrimp producer, Nekkanti Sea Foods Limited, has been certified by GLOBALG.A.P. – making the company the first to be certified in India.

Nekkanti is one of the largest shrimp exporters from India, with a long history of exports to major global destinations including the USA, Canada, European Union, South Africa and Australia. More recently, the company has begun exports to Russia and China.
"India has huge potential for aquaculture products. With the granting of the first certificate to a shrimp producer in Andhra Pradesh, buyers wishing to purchase safe and responsibly farmed seafood now have another choice for their seafood category. We congratulate the grower for this achievement and expect to see more producers follow”, Kristian Moeller, managing director of GLOBALG.A.P., said to World Fishing & Aquaculture.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Standard covers the entire production chain, from broodstock, seedlings and feed suppliers to farming, harvesting and processing and applies to all types of fish, crustaceans and molluscs. It is a universal mark of Good Aquaculture Practice and serves as a practical manual for any aquaculture producer and brand owner, ensuring food safety, minimal environmental impact, and compliance with animal welfare and worker health and safety requirements.
