On 1st February, a new, international office for ENL Group to support the innovative WASSP Multibeam Sonar, opened in the UK located at Maldon in Essex. The successful growth of WASSP sales since its first introduction to the European market in 2006 has seen the requirement for further investment in people to support its strong customer base.

“The management of marketing, technical training, and support programmes from New Zealand for the EMEA and North American markets has been challenging for us and our customer base,” commented ENL group managing director Gareth Hodson.
“We’ve therefore made a significant investment in order to support our loyal and potential customers in recruiting world class people in management, sales and marketing, R&D and technical support in Europe in order to achieve our aspirations in this critical market.”
Rufus Whiteford, who has over 20 years’ experience of working in the marine industry, will lead the ENL Europe (ENL EU) team as general manager to enable growth and support of the ENL Group- manufactured WASSP Multibeam Sonar across the EMEA countries and North America.
ENL Group has a strong reputation for systems engineering on larger projects in the defence and superyacht market around the globe and these will also be supported by Rufus and his team.
WASSP Multibeam Sonar technology continues to evolve after significant investment by ENL Group in R&D. The new generation compact and advanced commercial grade digital platform, the DRX, was launched successfully in 2016, with a number of product spin offs for the inshore fishing, survey mapping and superyacht markets.
“The establishment of the ENL EU office led by Rufus has been a strategic one following the successful launch of the latest models F3, S3, and W3, with a number of new products in the pipeline needing great support in market” said CTO and product manager Stefan Richardson.
“The global opportunities for WASSP are truly outstanding,” Rufus Whiteford added. “I’m delighted to have this opportunity to establish a presence for the company in the UK and raise the profile of our multibeam sonar technology throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.”
Rufus is joined in Maldon by Andrew Bron in the technical sales role, supporting customers during the technical pre-sales specification and providing after-sales support to ensure all customers receive the very best from their WASSP products. Justin Kiel who has been regional sales manager for EMEA for two years and is based in Italy completes the WASSP Europe team.
