The European Commission has given permission to Iceland''s Marel Food Systems hf to buy Dutch company Stork Food Systems (SFS).
The Commission noted that both companies are active in the manufacturing and sale of machinery and equipment for the processing of livestock, in particular poultry, fish, beef and pork. However, after examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly hinder competition and the investigation indicated that competitors of Marel could offer alternative equipment.
