The Olfish Dynamic Data Logger (Olfish-DDL), combined with the Olfish Electronic catch Reporting System (Olfish-ERS), is a complete data recording and reporting solution which is fully compliant with EU regulations (EC) No 1077/2008, (EC) No 1966/2006 and (EC) No 1566/2007. The system consists of:

• A GPS logging utility (Olfish-GPS logger) which, when connected, logs vessel movements in short intervals, regardless of the main system (Olfish-DDL) being on or off.

• Data Logging and reporting utility (Olfish-DDL) for the recording and reporting of all data required by EU regulations 1077/2008. Olfish-DDL makes extensive use of the GPS logger utility and it has an integrated GIS component. Logged data is initially stored as XML files before being transferred into MySQL database.

• A web based Communication Server (Olfish-ERS) which can receive, store, analyse and disseminate reports coming from the vessel units via Olfish-DDL. In addition Olfish-ERS includes a vessel’s registry and quota management modules. The Olfish-ERS is installed on an Apache deployment system linked to mySQL database.

The Olfish vessel unit is a touch-screen ready, data-capturing, front-end solution, for the recording and reporting of all commercial fishing related data in Real Time Mode or Post-Event Mode. The Olfish-DDL includes a data browser screen (Browser), a GIS-based mapping utility (Mapper) and a variety of task specific, data entry tools. Data collected by Olfish-DDL can be used to generate any type of report in various formats (XML, HTML, CSV, PDF, etc.). Olfish-DDL makes use of any of the commonly used onboard communication systems including: InmarSat, Iridium and GSM/GPRS. It can make use of many VMS associated mailing software such as Skymate, Boatracs, Watchdog, NetMailer, EasyMail and others. It can also use Outlook or the built-in Olfish-Mailer utility. Olfish-DDL can also send data via a secure, dedicated FTP port, if this is the preferred or required transfer mechanism.

Reports can be generated by a triggered event, data/time signal or manually by the user as required. Reports can be saved, viewed, edited and printed. The user can view the reports in HTML/XML before sending them out.

Olfish-DDL validates all reports before these are transmitted or saved against the required XML schema. All transmitted reports are managed by the Olfish-DDL mailing module. Using this module, Olfish DDL can re-transmit reports that didn’t reach their destination or correction reports if previously sent reports were found to include incorrect information.

Olfish was developed by Olrac a Cape Town based South African company. Olfish is installed on vessels all around the world (Australia, USA, Canada, South Africa and Europe).
