Aller Aqua has partnered with premix specialist, VDS, to develop a range of feed specifically designed for use in shrimp recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
The companies report that the new feed products are designed to provide rapid feed availability and high feed performance, addressing key concerns of shrimp producers.
“Together with VDS we noticed the same shrimp producer demands about feed availability and performance as well as physical quality,” explained Hanno Slawski, group R&D director of Aller Aqua.
“With the growing demand, we found it was time to get together and develop an optimal feed for shrimp farmed in RAS,” he added.
Koen Blanchaert, chief executive of VDS explained more. “Feeds have been tested in our own RAS system, where we found faster growth and remarkably even size distribution of shrimp with the now market-ready products,” he said.
The new feed reportedly delivers faster growth and a more even size distribution of shrimp, improving the efficiency and profitability of shrimp farming operations.
The pair say that trials have been such a success that significant interest has already been generated among shrimp producers and the aquaculture industry.
