International flavour to High Energy Mariculture 2018

High Energy Mariculture 2018 will welcome an international programme of speakers to Corfu Imperial Hotel, Corfu, Greece. Over two days attendees will hear from a range of high level presentations covering the end-to-end process of high energy operations.

Speaking from the USA will be Tyler Sclodnick, Senior Scientist at InnovaSea Systems Inc. Tyler will be covering how geospatial analysis can be used to help select the best site for your operations. Also presenting from the USA will be Donna Lanzetta, Founder and CEO of Manna Fish Farm a ground-breaking fish farm – the first open ocean finfish farm in federal waters off the US East Coast. Donna will focus on the challenges including the regulations and political issues which Manna Fish Farm encountered while selecting their operation sites, how they overcame them and the considerations which they made.

Taking an alternative look at offshore sites will be Katherine Hawes, Principal Solicitor and Barrister from Aquarius Lawyers in Australia. Katherine will use her expertise in aquaculture legislation to discuss how international law will affect high energy sites and how farms and operator will be able to trade and sell the ocean where they operate, just as land is current dealt.

Icelandic representation comes from Matis, the technology and development organisation who have been instrumental in the emergence of maximising the utilisation of cod by-products. Speaking on Matis’ behalf will be Dr Magnea Karlsdottir. Dr Karlsdottir will talk about the Icelandic operations are developing this further revenue stream and how it can be applied to other species.
