Tonga’s Minister of Fishery, Sangster Saulala, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the operation of 12 additional tuna fishing vessels which will operate in Tonga waters in 2013.

Last year, nine tuna fishing vessels operated in Tonga, but this year will see 21 altogether, reports Radio New Zealand International.

The Minister said that the MOU signed will see more than US$154,000 injected into the local economy through the payment of license and registration, which will also help with local employment.
