Allen Haroutonian

Founder Blue-X

Allen Haroutonian is the founder of Blue-X, a Sydney-based advisory working on fisheries sustainability through product and venture development, investment and commercialisation.
With the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), he leads the design and delivery of FFA’s Pacific Islands Tuna Ventures Programme (PITVP) — a programme built on the premise that no biomass pulled from the ocean is devoid of value, and that zero-waste fisheries present an economic and an environmental stewardship opportunity in equal measure. PITVP is supporting tuna processors from across the Pacific Islands, with a range of products and ventures under development. One of these has recently completed its first commercial production batch, secured its first sale, and achieved 100% utilisation — profitably.
Allen is also founder and entrepreneur in residence of the Fiji Ocean Cluster, which operates a venture studio model.
His work centres on connecting people and organisations with technically feasible and commercially viable opportunities — then working within those organisations to co-design and develop the MVP, secure the first sale, validate the product’s unit economics, and attract strategic partners and investors from across the capital stack.
