Tersan Shipyard, located in Turkey, has delivered the 74.7m stern freezer trawler ‘Volstad’ to Norwegian fishing and offshore company Volstad AS.

F/T Volstad, equipped with a fish processing plant, is the third of five trawlers under construction at Tersan Shipyard for different Norwegian ship owners. The first two trawlers F/T Havbryn and F/T Havstrand were delivered to their owners, Strand Fiskelsrap and Strand Havfiske earlier this year.

Nurettin Paksu, group president said "We are very delighted to see the delivery of F/T Volstad to its owners Volstad AS. F/T Volstad is the third advanced trawler fishing vessel that we have delivered to Norway within last five months, we are very proud to see what an efficient conveyor belt that a dedicated part of our shipyard has turned into for such kind of vessels.

"We are furthermore pleased to witness the satisfaction and happiness of our very important client Volstad, we appreciate this demanding customer’s belief and confidence in us. We are very sure that with sustained success of these recent deliveries our cooperation with Norway will steadily increase. I thank each party and the individuals that have participated in this project to achieve such success."

Key features of the vessel include excellent trawling manoeuvrability, modern electric driven fishing winches on deck, a selective catalyst reduction system on the exhaust line to achieve IMO Tier III, and an efficient and well organised fish processing plant. Volstad is also efficient for fuel saving with specifications of floating frequency philosophy, LED lightning and power re-generation.
