Russia launches national fish brand

To boost Russian's competitiveness and profile in the global market, the government and industry have launched a single national brand, Russian Fish, a quality mark for fish products in the country.
Unveiled at the 2019 China Fisheries and Seafood Expo, the brand's marketing strategy has been devised by Expo Solutions Group, an industry exhibition operator and the permanent organiser of Seafood Expo Russia. The brand will be initially promoted in China before launching in Europe and the US.
"We plan to join the ranks of world-famous marketing organisations such as Norwegian Seafood Council, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, JETRO and Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers," explained Ivan Fetisov, the project initiator and chief executive of expo Solutions Group.
"Russia features rich fish resources and is one of the largest suppliers of environmentally friendly wild fish bound to be duly appreciated by the global market and rightfully take leading positions among competitive products," he added.
Russian Fish will operate as an autonomous non-profit organisation managed by its board of directors whose members will include representatives from industry and the government's Federal Agency for Fisheries.
Expo Solutions Group will become Russian Fish's operational core and the new organisation is expected to be up and running by the end of 2019.
