The event will be held at the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton, UK, on 28 April.<\/p>\n
The objective is to identify a range of genuine solutions for fishing vessels, workboats, pilot boats, wind farm support vessels, survey vessels, scientific research craft, superyachts, military craft and unmanned vessels.<\/p>\n
Attendees include commercial and military end-user organisations, boat builders, engine manufacturers, mechanical and electrical engineers, naval architects and legislators.<\/p>\n
The fast moving battery workshop sessions will focus on informal discussion and industry experience from subject matter experts including Lloyds Register and DNV-GL. Hybrid sessions focus on simple and viable business cases for next generation vessels of all sizes including The Hour Of Power<\/a> concept. Presenters will highlight how fuel can be saved, maintenance costs reduced and engine life extended.<\/p>\n Supporters of the event include Southampton Marine & Maritime Institute, British Marine and BAE Systems HybriDrive. Robert Young of US based XALT Energy will use his session to quantify the footprint, weight and cost benefits of marine Lithium-ion battery systems.<\/p>\n The knowledge gained from these workshop sessions will help to shape long term decisions that lead to improvements for in-service systems and procurement of next generation vessels that fit the changing requirements of modern fleets.<\/p>\n
