{"id":9720,"date":"2016-03-02T13:52:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T13:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2016\/03\/02\/hb-grandis-new-trawler-launched\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:15:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T23:15:41","slug":"hb-grandis-new-trawler-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/vessels-shipyards\/hb-grandis-new-trawler-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"HB Grandi\u2019s new trawler launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The vessel is under construction at the Celiktrans yard in Turkey, and is the first of three trawlers that HB Grandi has contracted to have built in Turkey. <em>Engey<\/em> was designed by naval architect Alfre\u00f0 Tulinius at Nautic ehf.<\/p>\n<p>The new vessel will be delivered later this year, with <em>Akurey<\/em> <em>AK<\/em> due to be delivered next spring and <em>Vi\u00f0ey<\/em> <em>RE<\/em> in the second half of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The launch ceremony was attended by Torfi Th. Thorsteinsson, head of HB Grandi\u2019s groundfish division; Loftur Bjarni G\u00edslason, fleet manager for the fresher trawlers; and Fri\u00f0leifur Einarsson, currently skipper of <em>\u00c1sbj\u00f6rn RE<\/em> and due to take over the new <em>Engey<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Engey<\/em> measures 54.75m overall, with a 13.5m beam. The main engine is a MAN 6L27\/38 capable of producing 1790kW at 800rpm to turn a 3800mm MAN propeller via a Reintjes gearbox with a PTO for the shaft generator. The engine has a SCR Catalysator. MAN also supplied the two MAN D2840 LE 301 gensets, each of which can produce 443kW.<\/p>\n<p>The electric winch systems are from Naust Marine and the 300kW bow thruster is from Brunvoll.
