Estimates put the proportion of stocks taken illegally from the ocean at one in five. This accounts for 26m tonnes of catch, costing up to \u20ac19bn annually, threatening both fish stocks and the livelihoods of law-abiding fishermen.<\/p>\n<p>As the largest market for seafood products, the EU has a critical role to play in stemming the illegal fishing trade.
