{"id":9402,"date":"2015-09-15T16:12:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T15:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2015\/09\/15\/new-fisheries-minister-for-faroe-islands\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:14:30","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T23:14:30","slug":"new-fisheries-minister-for-faroe-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/fisheries\/new-fisheries-minister-for-faroe-islands\/","title":{"rendered":"New Fisheries Minister for Faroe Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mr Johannesen\u2019s Social Democratic Party (Javna\u00f0arflokkur) has formed a coalition with the Republican Party (Tj\u00f3\u00f0veldi) and the Progressive Party (Frams\u00f3kn). <\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister has appointed the following Ministers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr H\u00f8gni Hoydal (Tj\u00f3\u00f0veldi), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Fisheries<\/li>\n<li>Ms Kristina H\u00e1foss (Tj\u00f3\u00f0veldi), Minister of Finance<\/li>\n<li>Mr Poul Michelsen (Frams\u00f3kn) Minister of Industry, Trade and Foreign Affairs<\/li>\n<li>Mr Henrik Old (Javna\u00f0arflokkur), Minister of the Interior<\/li>\n<li>Ms Ey\u00f0gunn Samuelsen (Javna\u00f0arflokkur), Minister of Social Affairs<\/li>\n<li>Ms Siri\u00f0 Stenberg (Tj\u00f3\u00f0veldi), Minister of Health Affairs<\/li>\n<li>Ms Rigmor Dam (Javna\u00f0arflokkur), Minister of Education, Research and Culture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr Hoydal has been a Member of Parliament for Tj\u00f3\u00f0veldi in the Faroe Islands from 18 June 2015. He was born on 28 March 1966 in Copenhagen and is the son of fisheries biologist Kjartan Hoydal and biologist Gunv\u00f8r Hoydal. He is married to Hildur Hermansen and the couple have three children.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Hoydal replaces previous Minister of Fisheries, Jacob Vestergaard.<\/p>\n<p>In his address to the Parliament, the Prime Minister said, \u201cFourteen days ago, the people of the Faroe Islands chose a new course; a course based on a resilient, public-spirited and self-sufficient Faroe Islands. The Progress, Republican and Social Democratic Parties have now set this course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether we aim to ensure that basic values and power are once again with the people. The Faroe Islands are amongst the richest nations in the world, with an enormous wealth of natural resources, a rich culture, creative and skilful people and an enterprising business sector. We have everything we need to create a society with a wealth of opportunity, strong community bonds and equal rights for all.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Faroese Parliament has appointed Aksel V.
