Fresh from playing a leading role at the recent IAOF conference, \u00d3l\u00f6f Helga J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir has been confirmed as the chair of the Aquaculture \u2013 Driving Sustainable Growth conference at IceFish 2026.<\/p>\n
CPO at Kaldv\u00edk, \u00d3l\u00f6f joined the IAOF (Iceland Aquaculture and Ocean Forum) board last October, and was a Session Chair at last month\u2019s Reykjav\u00edk conference on \u2018The Icelandic Way to Growth\u2019, as well as taking part in a panel discussion on \u2018Investing in Resilient and sustainable growth\u2019.<\/p>\n
Bringing together investors, policymakers, industry executives, researchers, and key stakeholders, IAOF 2026 was an invite-only platform focussed on the future of aquaculture, capital markets, and the evolving global seafood economy.<\/p>\n
Responsible growth, long-term policy and regulation, innovation and food security, investment in sustainable seafood production and Iceland\u2019s growing role in global aquaculture, were among the topics discussed \u2013 themes almost certain to be returned to at the IceFish conference on 22 September.<\/p>\n
To further confirm that prediction, the keynote opening address at IAOF was given by H.E. Hanna Katr\u00edn Fri\u00f0riksson, Minister of Industries, and highlighted the Icelandic government\u2019s upcoming Aquaculture Bill, which is expected to be approved by Parliament before the end of summer\u2026. and the start of IceFish.<\/p>\n
The Minister also emphasized the government\u2019s economic and employment policy, where aquaculture is identified as one of the key pillars of sustainable growth in Iceland \u2014 supporting regional development, innovation, exports and long-term value creation.<\/p>\n
Posting online soon after IAOF 2026, \u00d3l\u00f6f said: \u201cFeeling incredibly proud to be part of this conference and to serve on its board. While there were countless valuable insights and discussions, the feeling that stays with me most is simple: enjoyment.<\/p>\n
