It pursues research and development aligned to the food and biotechnology industries as well as providing Iceland\u2019s leading analytical testing service for public and private authorities.<\/p>\n<p>It has successfully cooperated with partners around the world, playing a leading role in large international projects such as EcoFishMan (FP7), Whitefishmall (Nordic Innovation), Arctic Bioeconomy (NMR) and PrimeFish (Horizon2020), and in 2020 EcoD with partners University of Aarhus, Iceland Protein \u2013 looking at \u201cBy-products from fish processing for human consumption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It also has an ongoing fruitful cooperation with many of the largest food and ingredient companies in the world such as Pepsi Co., Nestl\u00e9 and Roquette.<\/p>\n<p>One of its key areas of expertise is value creation within the bioeconomy and the development of policy and infrastructure in areas in need of understanding and training in food production.<\/p>\n<p>Projects include working with the Tanzanian government improving fisheries in Lake Tanganyika, courses and consultation for the Kenyan government on quality issues for fish, the treatment of the catch, fish processing methods and packaging.
