The IceFish awards were introduced at the 1999 exhibition \u2013 and these have also evolved to reflect the way the fisheries have changed, and the latest evolution mirrors the North Atlantic seafood industry’s growing focus on adding value, aquaculture and the burgeoning demand for full utilisation of by-products; extracting value and nutrition from everything from fish skins to shrimp production waste.<\/p>\n
The 2020 awards combine longstanding features \u2013 awards for outstanding Icelandic skipper, outstanding Icelandic achievement, best stands and best new products launched at the show \u2013 alongside a re-imagined suite of awards aimed at highlighting the achievements of producers across the international seafood sector, as well as those companies supplying them with the technology that makes it all come together.<\/p>\n
“This doesn’t mean we are excluding the catching sector, but we are setting out a platform to highlight imaginative companies across the broader industry. At the same time, opening out the awards to a wider range of companies reflects the highly international nature of the fishing, seafood and aquaculture businesses worldwide,” said Mercator Media events director Marianne Rasmussen-Coulling.<\/p>\n
