The testing in the Mediterranean has been taking place for some time, using the ITI and PI Simrad trawl monitoring system, trawls with similar rope diameter and trawl doors from Thybor\u00f8n.<\/p>\n
The testing developed into a project in cooperation with the Spanish Oceanographic Institute and a full research study of conventional trawl doors versus the new low-flying doors from Thybor\u00f8n.<\/p>\n
The Danish study into the same matter also concludes fuel saving of up to 40% per kilogram of fish caught.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe mostly see a minimum saving of 10-15% in fuel consumption by using our flying door\u201d, said Jan Bundgaard, Thybor\u00f8n\u2019s sales manager.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Baltic Net in Poland has ordered eight sets of specially designed 15 WFS doors from Thybor\u00f8n, for Polish trawlers fishing in the Baltic.<\/p>\n
