{"id":5762,"date":"2021-05-12T11:08:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T10:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2021\/05\/12\/fsv-to-support-bakkafrosts-scottish-activity\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:55:55","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:55:55","slug":"fsv-to-support-bakkafrosts-scottish-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/aquaculture\/fsv-to-support-bakkafrosts-scottish-activity\/","title":{"rendered":"FSV to support Bakkafrost\u2019s Scottish activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bakkafrost has entered an agreement with Eidesvik Shipping AS to purchase <em>Viking Athene<\/em>, which has operated as a supply vessel in the Norwegian offshore industry.<\/p>\n<p>The 73.4 metre LOA, 16.4 metre beam <em>Viking Athene<\/em> is a sister ship to Bakkafrost\u2019s FSV <em>Martin<\/em>, which was aquired in 2016. <em>Viking Athene<\/em> will be renamed <em>Bakkanes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe plan to repurpose the ship into a farming service vessel, as previously undertaken with both <em>Martin<\/em> and <em>R\u00f3land<\/em>,\u201d said Sverri Kj\u00e6rb\u00e6k, Operations Manager at Bakkafrost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPurpose built treatments modifications will be made once the ship has been acquired and registered.
