{"id":5507,"date":"2013-08-12T16:26:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-12T15:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2013\/08\/12\/nigeria-invests-us728m-in-aquaculture\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:54:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:54:23","slug":"nigeria-invests-us728m-in-aquaculture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/industry-news\/nigeria-invests-us728m-in-aquaculture\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria invests US$7.28m in aquaculture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An agreement has been signed with two \u201cforeign technical partners\u201d to establish aquaculture farms, fish processing and storage facilities in the state for catfish and tilapia.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Thomas Commander, State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, said: &#8220;In view of the volume of fish that would be produced, they have been asked to also establish a fish processing factory with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes and a cold storage facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The partners will invest N2.7bn (US$16.99m), bringing the total project cost to N3.9bn (US$24.27m).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From this amount, 30% is what the state is going to pay while the partners are going to source 70% of this fund.
