{"id":5495,"date":"2021-03-24T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2021\/03\/24\/hybrid-pelagic-pioneer-delivered\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:54:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:54:19","slug":"hybrid-pelagic-pioneer-delivered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/vessels-shipyards\/hybrid-pelagic-pioneer-delivered\/","title":{"rendered":"Hybrid pelagic pioneer delivered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new <em>Libas<\/em> has been designed by Salt Ship Design for Norwegian fishing company Lie Gruppen and is fitted with a 350m<sup>3<\/sup> MAN Cyro LNG tank, a 6000kW MAN 6L51\/60DF main engine, a Renk gearbox and a MAN Alpha3000 propeller system, alongside a 500kWh battery system.<\/p>\n<p>The LNG system is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 25% compared to conventional diesel propulsion, while adding biogas to the mix could reduce this still further. The major reduction is in NOx emissions, which are reduced by 85%. A challenge the operators face is that <em>Libas<\/em> will need to bunker at relatively frequent intervals, but this is not seen as a problem as fuel can be supplied at locations along the Norwegian coast and can also be delivered by truck if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The 86 metre LOA, 17.80 metre breadth <em>Libas<\/em> is rigged with a Karm\u00f8y deck equipment system for purse seining and a package of electric Rapp Hydema winches for its trawl setup, which includes three net drums and three trawl winches, providing opportunities for twin-rig operation on certain species.<\/p>\n<p>According to shipbuilder Cemre, Lie Gruppen are pioneers in this field, with what is seen as an environmentally-friendly, safe, efficient, and comfortable vessel.
