Despite the company\u2019s relative newness, Werft brings decades of experience in ship construction to the sector.<\/p>\n
Managing director Pieter Pruiksma said that Urk has historically been one of the main centres of Dutch shipbuilding and fishery.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to harness the strength and expertise of local partners and let our clients benefit from local construction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
From design through to construction and delivery, Werft will assume all roles and tasks, providing bespoke vessels tailored to each client\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom hull construction to final finishing, from carpenters to electricians, Werft can handle all development facets in-house,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is a unique concept in shipbuilding,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The company is keen to stay local, choosing construction partners who are part of the Urk Maritime cooperation collective, such as VCU-TCD, Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek, De Flux and De Boer Marine. Other well-known names such as Padmos, C-iob and Marin are also part of the collective. This local approach combined with a flat organisational structure and quick service means the company feels it can provide customers with the \u2018best cost-quality ratio\u2019.<\/p>\n
Werft has signed its first engineering contract and a number of construction projects have begun.<\/p>\n
