The Trident Hybrid Steel Cage, first engineered for use in the waters off British Columbia in Canada, uses flexible HDPE pipes to improve safety and stability while lowering the overall operational costs of salmon farming.<\/p>\n
The bid was secured through Trimara Services, a Scotland-based distributor of aquaculture systems and services. \u201cWe trust Trimara\u2019s ability to deliver,\u201d said Mark Warrington, managing director of Loch Duart. \u201cWe want to be close to our fish and these cages will let us continue with our commitment to providing best-in-class husbandry while improving the working environment for our team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aquaculture company, Poseidon Ocean Systems, developed the system having realised that the design of steel cages had not changed in 25 years. \u201cWhat we have developed is a dramatically improved, innovative steel cage system,\u201d said Mathew Clarke, who co-founded the company in 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe system is significantly stronger and performs incredibly well at high energy sites. It is also easier to maintain and the accessories are fully customisable. All aspects of modern farm operations can be integrated into the Trident structure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Along with the installation in Canada, Poseidon Ocean Systems is also making progress in Chile. This Scottish sale is its first export order and will arrive in Scotland in March.
