{"id":3904,"date":"2011-04-28T10:44:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-28T09:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2011\/04\/28\/sri-lankas-largest-fisheries-harbour-to-open-soon\/"},"modified":"2011-04-28T10:44:00","modified_gmt":"2011-04-28T09:44:00","slug":"sri-lankas-largest-fisheries-harbour-to-open-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/industry-news\/sri-lankas-largest-fisheries-harbour-to-open-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka\u2019s largest fisheries harbour to open soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The harbour is expected to be declared open within the next 6 months.<\/p>\n<p>The new harbour will consist of fuel stations, ice storage facilities, refrigerators, deep freezers and adequate anchorage.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development said that a special committee has been appointed to supply all of the required infrastructure facilities, in order to overcome the current shortages.<\/p>\n<p>The harbour premises comprise 8.1ha and the harbour basin is around 11.7ha. It was being constructed under a loan scheme provided by the government of The Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>The harbour will also have enough space for anchoring 515 fishing vessels. The entrance to the harbour will be expanded to 70m from the present length of 50m.<\/p>\n<p>A fish canning factory and a fish market have also been constructed.
