The <em>Silver Chord<\/em> was taking on water after damage to the stem post and forward plank, and it requested a salvage pump from the Stornoway lifeboat, the <em>Tom Sanderson<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The lifeboat handed over a pump and one lifeboat crewman to the <em>Silver Chord<\/em> and then recovered a liferaft and other floating debris from the scene, 12 nautical miles from the lifeboat station.<\/p>\n<p>There were four men on board the <em>Silver Chord<\/em>, a 16m long boat from Stornoway, and the fishing boat was escorted back to Stornoway by the lifeboat.
