{"id":3529,"date":"2010-09-21T10:02:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-21T09:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2010\/09\/21\/india-seafood-exports-grow-22\/"},"modified":"2010-09-21T10:02:00","modified_gmt":"2010-09-21T09:02:00","slug":"india-seafood-exports-grow-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/industry-news\/india-seafood-exports-grow-22\/","title":{"rendered":"India seafood exports grow 22%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), the country\u2019s exports yielded $638 million (\u20ac485.6 million) during the first four months of FY 2010-11 compared with $517.4 million (\u20ac393.9 million) during the same period of the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Higher catches in India have helped the trend and led to diminished domestic prices. The only worry of the $2 billion (\u20ac1.5 billion) industry, said national SEAI President Anwar Hashim, is the weakening dollar and the consequent lowering of the export realisation.<\/p>\n<p>The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) said growing Japanese demand for tiger black shrimp played an important role in the rising exports.<\/p>\n<p>Shrimp exports to the US market have grown despite the fact that the anti-dumping duty increased after the fourth review, said Hashim.<\/p>\n<p>Exports to West and South Asian countries increased 27% during the past year while exports to South East Asian countries soared by 62%.<\/p>\n<p>Exports to Japan have grown despite the country\u2019s very high quality standards, MPEDA said.
