{"id":3452,"date":"2020-07-15T10:53:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T09:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2020\/07\/15\/new-christian-i-grotinum-ordered\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:42:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:42:23","slug":"new-christian-i-grotinum-ordered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/vessels-shipyards\/new-christian-i-grotinum-ordered\/","title":{"rendered":"New Christian \u00ed Gr\u00f3tinum ordered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due for delivery in January 2022, <em>Christian \u00ed Gr\u00f3tinum<\/em> will replace an existing vessel of the same name which was previously Kvann\u00f8y.<\/p>\n<p>The owners of <em>Christian \u00ed Gr\u00f3tinum<\/em> have been pioneers in pelagic processing and freezing at sea, but the new vessel represents a return to conventional operation as the order is for a vessel designed to land fresh catches in RSW, concentrating on herring, mackerel and blue whiting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKarstensens is delighted with the loyalty and trust shown in us by Kristian Martin Rasmussen and his sons J\u00f3n, Ey\u00f0un and Bogi,\u201d the yard\u2019s Kent Damgaard said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a pleasure for the yard to get to work with such a forward-thinking and innovative fishing company, which has for many years been one of the clear leaders in the Faroe Islands and the North Atlantic region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new <em>Christian \u00ed Gr\u00f3tinum<\/em> will be built at the Karstensen yard in Poland, with fitting out and completion taking place at the company\u2019s Skagen yard. The new pelagic vessel is a design by the yard in co-operation with the the owners to develop a fishing vessel capable of operating as sustainably as possible, with minimal emissions per kilo of landed fish.
