Priced at \u00a360 (\u20ac72\/$87), the first edition of the Reeds Fishermen\u2019s Almanac and Fishing Industry Handbook<\/em> will contain the full over 12-metre fleets of both the UK and Ireland, supported in many cases with full colour photography.<\/p>\n

A&C Black said according to the latest statistics available, the UK fishing industry now comprises 6,573 fishing vessels while Ireland has just over 2,000 commercial boats in operation. \u201cReeds Fishermen\u2019s Almanac and Fishing Industry Handbook<\/em>, is a celebration of those vessels still catching today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Every fishing vessel in the UK and Ireland over 15 metres is required by law to carry a suitable nautical publication. Until now, commercial fishermen have had to rely on books aimed at the leisure industry but the new volume allows skippers and crew to have a product tailored specifically to them on board.<\/p>\n

The almanac has been produced in consultation with: The Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA), The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (The Admiralty), The Irish Coastguard, The Fishing Industry Safety Group (FISG), RNLI, The Fishermen\u2019s Mission, and Seafish.
