{"id":2917,"date":"2020-02-20T08:12:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T08:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2020\/02\/20\/milestone-for-publicly-owned-ferguson\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:39:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:39:47","slug":"milestone-for-publicly-owned-ferguson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/industry-news\/milestone-for-publicly-owned-ferguson\/","title":{"rendered":"Milestone for publicly owned Ferguson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Helen Rice<\/em>, a support vessel for the salmon-farming sector, has been lifted into the Clyde and handed over to Inverlussa Marine Services, a family-owned business based on the Isle of Mull.<\/p>\n<p>Economy Secretary Derek Mackay, who attended the naming ceremony, said, \u201cThis is another significant milestone as we start the journey to a new sustainable future for Ferguson Marine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a Scottish-built vessel, provided to a Scottish customer and serving the needs of the Scottish aquaculture industry. It is hugely encouraging that the yard has been able to support our island economies in this way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy aim for the last two years has always remained the same \u2013 to keep the yard open and not just to finish the vessels currently being built, but to secure a future for the company in the years ahead. The high quality of the workmanship on the <em>Helen Rice<\/em> is a tribute to the skills of the Ferguson workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inverlussa Marine Services managing director, Ben Wilson, added, \u201cWe are looking forward to <em>Helen Rice<\/em> starting work providing important services to the Scottish fish farm industry.
