HAPO\u2019s own certification, ‘Fish from Greece’, developed in collaboration with TUV Austria Hellas, was delivered in early June this year. In a press conference held in Athens last week, HAPO\u2019s president, Apostolos Touralias, announced the launch of an ambitious promotional initiative for 2019\/2020 focusing on both the local and the Italian market, one of HAPO’s key importers.<\/p>\n
Transparency is the central concept behind the new campaign, echoing the clarity of the seas around Greece and highlighting the principles and practices of HAPO\u2019s member-fisheries. The campaign features various activities such as trips to fish farms to witness sustainable practices during production.<\/p>\n
In early October HAPO\u2019s General Assembly endorsed the organisation\u2019s action plan for the next three years which will focus on the expansion of the campaign to include more markets and the creation of best practices, innovative research and technology initiatives on animal welfare, human resources, environment and local communities.<\/p>\n
The privately owned, non-profit HAPO was established in 2016 with the primary aim of fostering the growth and development of its members.
