Mr Landsburgh joined the food sector in 1984 when he became Director, and then Managing Director, of a retail food business. He was Chief Executive of the Scottish Grocers\u2019 Federation between 2000-2005, the trade association for the convenience store sector, before establishing his own business development consultancy, working closely with Scottish Enterprise.<\/p>\n
Mr Landsburgh will now direct the activities of SSPO through an evolving planning structure and a new legislative framework. His appointment is effective Monday 22nd September.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cAs aquaculture is now the fastest growing sector in the global production of food, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help build on the social, economic and environmental performance of the Scottish salmon industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a particularly opportune moment to be joining the industry, with the Scottish Government\u2019s Food and Drink Policy and Marine Bill under review,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Professor Phil Thomas, Chairman of SSPO, said: \u201cI am delighted to welcome Scott Landsburgh to the salmon industry at this exciting and challenging time. His twenty-five years experience in the food and drink sectors will be extremely valuable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis experience, and his enthusiasm for the new role, will be key to building positive relationships with a range of stakeholders and will greatly enhance the focus on delivering sustainability and competitiveness,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Widely experienced in public affairs, marketing and licensing, Mr Landsburgh has been a member of several political working groups tasked with shaping new regulation. During his time with the Scottish Grocers\u2019 Federation, he served as an executive member of the Wines & Spirits Committee of the British Retail Consortium, as Chairman of Scottish Retailers\u2019 Licensing Law Reform Group and as a Director of Skillsmart Retail, the authority for retail skills development and promotion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
