The new venue offers much better conditions for both exhibitors and guests. By renting the largest hall in the Faroes, all exhibitors will be under the same roof as the hall in question covers 5, 000 square metres. “Holding the fair in such a well-equipped hall improves the entire fair considerably”, says Mr. D\u00c3\u00a1nial Petur Hansen, managing director of North Atlantic Fish Fair. The hall is situated at Sandv\u00c3\u00adkahjalla in the eastern part of T\u00c3\u00b3rshavn where the main road from north and west enters the city. This is a central location which makes it easily accessible for people from all over the Faroes.<\/p>\n
It will also be convenient for foreign visitors to use the hotel capacity and other facilities in T\u00c3\u00b3rshavn. It is also a central location for those staying outside T\u00c3\u00b3rshavn.<\/p>\n
This year’s fair has a lot to live up to. When the first fair took place in 2001, no one really knew what to expect from such a fair in the Faroes. Both Faroese and foreign exhibitors welcomed the fair and it became a success. That year there were 212 exhibitors, 107 of whom were Faroese and 105 came from abroad. A total of 7,000 people visited the fair, more than expected. The organisers work was acknowledged on the annual industry day and awarded ‘Initiative of the year’ by the Faroese House of Industry.<\/p>\n
The year 2003 was the one that was going to prove whether the North Atlantic Fish Fair was only a single success here to stay. The figures spoke for themselves. There were 307 exhibitors from 19 countries. More than 11,000 people from 27 different countries visited the fair and this was well beyond expectations.<\/p>\n
Conference facilities at the North Atlantic Fish Fair will also benefit as the conference is being held in the Nordic House in T\u00c3\u00b3rshavn. The Nordic House is the cultural centre of T\u00c3\u00b3rshavn and is ideal for conferences and large arrangements.
