Held as part of the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition (IceFish), and taking place on day one of the event which lasts until Saturday 27 September, the event commenced with a reception which provided excellent networking opportunities for all that attended. <\/p>\n
The compere for the night was Logi Bergmann Ei\u00f0sson, news anchor for Iceland\u2019s Channel 2 (St\u00f6\u00f0 2) and the awards were sponsored by Samskip, Landsbankinn, Vonin, Brammer Iceland and UK Trade and Investment.<\/p>\n
The Icelandic Fisheries Awards were first introduced in 1999 to recognise and reward excellence in the Icelandic and international fishing industries, and the stature of this event has continued to grow and develop over the years. The hotly contested Awards are highly regarded and are seen as an accolade with winners using their success to promote their company and products.<\/p>\n
The winners were selected by two judging panels spearheaded by the editor of Fiskifrettir<\/i>, Gudjon Einarsson and World Fishing & Aquaculture<\/i>\u2019s editor Carly Wills. Nominations were received from both within Iceland and internationally, including processing and catching for all sizes of operations. <\/p>\n
