The competition is organised by the Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal (STIP) and is open to students, researchers, start-ups and small and medium sized enterprises. This is its second year after a successful opening in Vietnam in 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are super excited to start with the next edition of the AIC,\u201d said Willem van der Pijl, director of STIP and editor in chief of ShrimpTails magazine.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year\u2019s focus on shrimp is super important because the shrimp industry provides millions of people with livelihoods but also poses challenges to the environment. It\u2019s crucial for the future of the industry to innovate production practices in a sustainable way.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are two competition categories \u2014 Product Innovation and Consumer Value. Sponsored by the GAA, the Consumer Value category rewards innovations in traceability, blockchain, online trading platforms, product shelf life, and marketing and branding of shrimp.<\/p>\n
The winner of the Product Innovation category will gain admission to Hatch Blue\u2019s three-month aquaculture accelerator programme and access to its global network of industry professionals and investors. Both categories also attract cash prizes and the chance to present at the GOAL 2019 conference in Chennai, India in October.<\/p>\n
