{"id":11420,"date":"2017-12-12T09:18:00","date_gmt":"2017-12-12T09:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldfishing.nfdtesting.uk\/icefish-conference\/2017\/12\/12\/grants-for-us-aquaculture-pilot-projects\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:20:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T23:20:06","slug":"grants-for-us-aquaculture-pilot-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldfishing.net\/icefish-conference\/news\/aquaculture\/grants-for-us-aquaculture-pilot-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Grants for US aquaculture pilot projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commissions will be managing the grants, with each making US$450,000 available to expand seafood farming operations and production to offset the $14bn seafood trade deficit in the US.<\/p>\n<p>Through these pilot projects, emphasis is being placed on promising but less commercially developed technologies for finfish, shellfish, seaweed, and other relative newcomers to the domestic aquaculture industry.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasis is also being placed on the development and deployment of economically and environmentally sustainable aquatic farming techniques and business practices.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for proposals is 1 February 2018.
